The newest Foo Fighters effort is I think, a lot stronger than the previous, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace was. It's a lot heavier too, which is the Fooies strength. They rock the acoustic songs but the rock the fuck out if a good heavy song. And with Pat Smear officially back in the band from this album onwards, there's an extra guitar's worth of rock.
Special guests on this album include Bob Mould, who I do not know and Krist Novoselic, also of Nirvana. Butch Vig from Garbage produced the album and his past credits include 21st Century Breakdown by Green Day and a little thing called Nevermind by a little known band at the time.
This is a picture.
Rope, Dear Rosemary, White Limo and Alandria all stick out for me, I like to walk along oblivious to whatever else the fuck is going on. It's good.
I also like how the album was recorded. It was in Dave's garage on analogue equipment until the mastering process. It doesn't have an overproduced sound and it isn't too raw. They also released a video for White Limo which featured Lemmy form Motorhead driving the band around in amazingly, a white limousine.
From the video.
Of the 2 singles, Rope and Walk, Walk was featured in the film "Thor", as the editor's liked the theme of the song and thought it fit in with Thor's journey throughout the film. And it does.
I wouldn't say that the Foo Fighters improve with every album, they might well, but I love all the albums in different ways. There's a couple of rocker's on each one that you just want to scream along with. That's just the way it is with me and here's a photo of Dave and Lemmy...
