Upcoming: The Playboy Club

Never mind the fact that it has to do with that famous bunny for a moment, this upcoming NBC series looks pretty interesting. In the Playboy Club in 1960's Chicago, it seems to have all the ingredients for an entertaining and successful show. A period piece with an attractive cast, what it does have going against it is it's competition in the form of the established ABC hit Castle and CBS's softmore series, the fuck-tastic Hawaii Five-0. I can find room for the three, but can America?

Taking over from Chuck on Monday's, it's not like The Playboy Club will have much to work with in the beginning. Sure, the premiere will likely attract a season high and a lot of those viewers will just be having a sticky beak, but viewers tend to drop off in the second week of every show, every season.

Eye candy doesn't hurt.

With a cast including Eddie Cirbrian, Amber Heard, Naturi Naughton, David Krumholtz and Sean Maher, it has the potential to be a fantastic ensemble series. Granted, so far, I only have the preview to go by, but if they continue with what it looks like they've done, they should be around for a couple of years worth of mystery and intrigue.

The story doesn't just involve a few dames shaking their bums for the gents either, that would be shit. It has gangsters and sex and violence and sham marriage, all the fun stuff.

See, barrels of fun.

Because it carries the Playboy brand name, some people have pre-determined that this show will be indecent.  The Parents Television Council and the anti-pornography group, Morality in Media have both tried to rally people to protest and not watch the show but they can go fuck themselves. It's not porn, if I want to watch porn, hey guess what? I'll watch porn. Not a show set in the 60's with no need for nudity anyway, and if there is any, it'll be for the DVD. I'll just say one thing, the PTC obviously don't know how to control their own children if they have to worry about what everybody else watches. Just don't let them watch it, fuckers. You don't need to spoil the party for everyone else.

I hope this is a hit for NBC, it seems like they've been trying to find something decent since they gave Las Vegas the arse and this seems like it fits the mold. Maybe not in the action respect, but the glitz and glamour parts.

And it has a cool poster.
