Are You Watching Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza?

No? Well you fuckin' should be. It is one of the funniest shows on television at the moment and goes back to the days of Whose Line Is It Anyway?

This show is really a breath of fresh air and comes to you courtesy of the Game Show Network via the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It features all the good ones from Whose Line? plus the mostly unwelcome Kathy Kinney who played Mimi on The Drew Carey Show, seriously, sometimes she's about as welcome as your mum walking in on you busting one out.

Yuck.

and the addition of Jonathan Mangum who is another improv genius. He also tours with Wayne Brady. I tried to write another word instead of genius, but fucked if I know how to spell it. We have Brad Sherwood who can do any of the games easily, along with Chip Esten, Jeff Davies and Wayne Brady who also land in that boat. Jeff seems to have found another gear after Whose Line? and is probably the funniest one on this show. We also have Greg Proops, Colin Mochrie, Heather Anne Campbell and the unstumpable Ryan Stiles to round out the cast. Charlie Sheen has even popped by, but fuck him.

Not Winning.

The performers clearly enjoy themselves and have more freedom to create the scenes than in Whose Line? because of lesser time restraints and some of the songs clock in at over five minutes, sometimes having as few as four games an episode. I recommend getting your hands on some of the episodes and watching them with friends because you may actually piss yourself with laughter, which in itself would be hilarious.

Some of the funniest bits come from when the performers pick people out of the audience to join the games including Sound Effects, Song Styles and a new game called First Date where the guys try to act out a couples first date and the couple dings a bell or honks a horn for the right or wrong action.

Drew and Greg, just chillin'.

I don't know what the future holds for this show but I hope it finds it's audience because improvisational comedy is often the funniest form of comedy but being on the Game Show Network, doesn't really have much to work with. Anyway, find it however you can, Youtube it, download it illegally, I don't care, just watch it and then tune in, the world could really do with a bit more of Drew Carey and his merry band of bullshitters.
