Remembering Breaking In

This is another show that FOX murdered unnecessarily. It's also a strike three for Christian Slater on the TV series front and the ratings were better than most comedies getting renewals. Until Fox literally stuck the knife in and moved its last episode in an experiment that wasn't needed yet and completely backfired. But anyhoo, lets look at the good stuff from the only seven episodes.

This is a show that could have been the reigning geek comedy after Chuck finally leaves the screens and Christian Slater leads his group of security experts/amateur criminals around with a kind of sadistic glee, handing out lessons to his cohorts about how to work in a team among other things and generally being about a thousand steps in front of everyone else because of his odd ability to know exactly everything thats going on, onside and outside of the office.

As mentioned before, Christian Slater stars as 'Oz' Osbourne, the leader of a security team that breaks inot and steals shit from people and companies, to show the faults of their currents systems, and to fix the problems. Bret Harrison is the focus as Cameron Price, a hacker recruited by Oz, who was coasting through college again, for free, and scamming his way through life. Alphonso McAuley as Cash, a fanboy and genius who still lives with his mum. Trevor Moore as Josh Armstrong, a master of disguise, who also loves to get it wet. Odette Annable as Melanie the safe cracker who is hot and the love interest for Cameron and Michael Rosenbaum as Dutch, Melanie's boyfriend who is basically a con man that ends up with a job with the team, Oz hiring him just to piss off Cameron.

Pictured: Dunno really.

Full of pop culture references and emotional arcs and shit, this show is genuinely funny and thats what shits me about the current state of television. The good shows get axed after a few eps, or are on cable and take forever to discover. Like It's Always Sunny or Archer.

Good to see Lex back on TV too.

A couple of little in jokes here and there (Rosenbaum wearing a Superman shirt for example), and this really is a well rounded cast and crew that was never really given a chance. At only seven episodes ordered for midseason, there was never any time to build what would be a loyal audience. Something that Fox seems to not understand, we've all heard of Arrested Development. What gets my grill is that another one of  my favourite shows got picked up with pretty shitty numbers and this one gets the arse. Its not the same type of show at all but it would have the same type of demographic: fanboys. And there's no shortage of those.

Back to school in the 21 Jump Street episode.

Throw in episodes with Alyssa Milano, Comic-Con and KFC and you have a recipe for my perfect weekend. If only there were more episodes to come.
